Didn't they say that recording what's inside the tower is effectively useless because of each floor shifting after completion?
The only "precious information" they're sharing is their own. Otherwise, it's just entertainment.

Right, it's an Asian story, where things can be friendly and open on the outside(except North Korea, for obvious reasons), but the entire society is about control and hierarchy. If they can't control it, they try to destroy it, if they can't destroy it, they will isolate and starve it.
