Bro knew he was superhuman and thought he could save a life without much risk to his own. It’s as much for one’s own self-gratification as it is altruism.
Plus, I suspect there was some saviour complex backstory that caused him to become an agent and travel back in time in the first place that’s influencing his personality, even without his memories.
