Log In to CommentThe actual assassination of Franz Ferdinand was such a mess that it's actually quite funny. In total, there were 6 assassins and so much incompetence on both sides that it's crazy that anything at all happened. The archduke was in a convoy passing in Sarajevo.
The first assassin with a bomb did not do anything.
The second assassin with a pistol also did not act.
The third assassin with a bomb threw it, but it bounced off of the car's folded convertible cover, it bounced in the street and blew up the car behind (killing no one). The assassin took a cyanide pill and jumped in the river, but the Cyanide pill was so old that it just made him throw up, and the river was 13 cm deep because it was summer.
Assassins 4, 5 and 6 also did not act.
After the bombing, General Potiorek decided to alter the route of the convoy so they would pass through less frequented routes. However, he didn't actually tell the drivers, so they just went with their normal routes. But even then, the third car (in which the archduke and the general were) took a wrong turn, and when he backed up to go the right way, he stalled the car... Right in front of Princip, one of the assassins that had given up and was just standing there.
Not missing the opportunity this time, he simply walked up to the stalled and isolated car, and shot the archduke and his wife three times. He then tried to shoot himself but was stopped by the police.
Like holy shit if millions hadn't died as a result of this action, this shit would be hilarious.
