I think she's mute. But she talked after his dad beat him up. So the story is kinda dumb.
Or she's deaf. And would you like to hear it is just a common phrase.
It was only "Son" while she was running. Maybe there were other instance. I'm not paying attention. This is oure mediocrity. Just skimming. Why bother paying attentions to the details, the glossary (well, it doesn't exist) itself makes the story unfollowable.
This is brain dead stuff to do.
