It could be described as quite interesting and unique

    I would rate this series
    S-Tier

    Highest: SSS-Tier
    Lowest: C-Tier
    I don’t read series rated below C-Tier

I’ve been in this industry for 10 years and I write novels.

Only one Arc of the story was completed but got axed so don't bother reading. Could really have been great but it did drag a lot for the 1st arc.

If you want an idea of what a decent horror manwha or manga is go read tomie. Because it makes this look like a joke.

Worst thing I’ve ever read. Straight up just goofy gore porn slop. The idea isn’t horrendous yet the execution is. It’s genuinely worse than those that time I got reincarnated into a harem with 47 virgins that want to fuck me for no reason types of manwhas. I like horror but this ain’t it. If you can honestly read this and enjoy it you need to be monitored. I imagine this is what school shooters fantasise about.

It's actually not horror, it's called grey/grey morality. Another one like it is Devilman Lady (the anime, not the manga, god no). Gantz: O (the movie) is a similarly solid rendition. The last one I can think of off the top of my head is Coiling Dragon, but that's a novel; I pretend the terribad manga doesn't exist. Some lesser examples of grey/grey morality are Code Geass, Berserk, Claymore, and Tokyo Ghoul. These stories are also well written, but the MCs can be said to be relatively good compared with their horrid opponents, so it's not really the same. Devilman Lady's MC is a straight-up demon. The MC of Gantz: O is selfish as f*ck, he'll kill anyone to save himself, though he tells himself it's for his brother. As for Coiling Dragon, the dude pursues immortality, as is usually the case in xinxia. The difference is that the 'bad guys' in CD are often just normal people who got in the MC's way. Xinxias usually try to make the MC's opponents nastier than the MC, but CD generally doesn't. He's a cold-hearted ass to everyone. I remember laughing when one of the characters in the early second half actually comments on his unnecessary meanness. His response is basically, 'tough sh*t.' She does not stick around him for long, as you can imagine.

The point of these stories is that there is no clear 'good side.' There's only a realistic and gritty battle between different factions vying for power. The MC has to make some harsh choices otherwise they'll be hunted down and killed in the same way they're hunting and killing their own opponents.

Btw, if you're simply not a fan of blood and gore, I highly recommend Code Geass for understanding the genre better. The whole series (both anime and manga) is full of complicated gambles and tactical showdowns where intellect often wins over brute strength. Except when the MC gets steamrolled, which happens a lot because he's initially fighting an entire empire all by himself... lol
