Having finally carved a bloody path of vengeance to its bitter end, the legendary swordsman known as the Bloodline of Kunlun closed his eyes, ready for eternal rest.
Instead, he opens them to the hum of neon and the stench of decay.
He hasn’t returned to the earth; he has awakened centuries later in the scrap yards of a sprawling futuristic metropolis, resurrected inside a cobbled-together humanoid body built from salvaged metal: Ash.
Gone is his flesh and blood. Gone are his dantian and the deep reservoir of internal Qi that once shook the murim. In a world ruled by advanced cybernetic weaponry, high-tech mega-corporations, and cold steel, he is nothing more than a discarded machine.
Until he tries to throw a punch.
With no internal energy left to channel, the electric currents humming through his mechanical chassis suddenly spark, answering to the ancient katas etched into his soul. Electricity replaces Qi. The old martial arts still work.
“I want revenge.”
