nah dude you can’t just go all cutsie wholesome after that, they just kidnapped and attempted to murder Theo and even after finding out who he was kept mistreating and threatening to kill him, screw them, have frog legs for dinner.
Love theos hustle altho you’d think it’d have to be prepped by MC rather than eating the bugs live /raw
As strange it might seem. But Teo got off lightly in this chapter than his web novel counterpart this time around.
But before we get into that; this chapter covers the events of chapter 91-92 in the web novel for those that want to follow along at home.
When Iona had finished her work and saw the army of Locusts she responded much the same as she did in the manhwa but didn’t get poisoned this time. Teo’s response was different too. As at this time he was suspicious of Iona and was trying to get rid of her thinking she was trying to take his position as Sejun’s right-hand man. Sejun started off delighted that he could use the void storage to cheat people down from the 99th floor for free, to being a little annoyed when he finally reached level 50 and couldn’t gain any more EXP until he did his class quest. So they retreated back to the Jewel Frog’s cave.
After retreating, they reinforced the entrance to the cave with Blade leeks. And Teo got Iona up to speed about the new quest they were on. While Teo was wary of Iona she was still on their side after all in the web novel. It was then after seeing the slightly cooked versions of the locusts did Sejun do his first cooking. With the results being the dish he made last chapter. As well as the other recipe he would end up making. (Just keep reading this chapters to find out).
It was while they were eating that Sejun learned that the Blade Leeks were no longer effective. As the blood from the Purple Locusts would cause them to wither. However, Iona had added a feature to Sejun’s void storage that was both effective and deadly. By summoning the door and opening it, he could call out “Freeze Storage” to make the void storage actively suck in the locusts and freeze them into cubes and store them away. It was limited by the amount of space inside (it was said to be big enough for 3 of the Black Minotaurs to fit if they couched down) but it was a new weapon for Sejun now.
It was in chapter 92 that we get to meet Gaeron. Who wasn’t the king but the race god of the Jewelled Frogs… and was an intruder into the Black Tower. He had been hidden in the back of the cave in a hidden room that Teo had been drawn to and he managed to steal his gemstone which caused his shrine to break. This caused the very angry god to absorb Teo’s soul.
The god Gaeron immediately freaked out as he could sense the Black Dragon’s Aura on Teo and knew he was now doomed. Because Gaeron was now in front of Sejun the Middle Level Manager of the Tower, the system could detect Gaeron and asked if the god should be ejected from the tower. It was while Sejun was grappling with how to deal with this situation did the god Gaeron heard the voice of Teo taunting him.
Gaeron’s problem was simple. As a race god, he wasn’t supposed to be in the tower. The tower was designed to save the races about to be destroyed. Not their failed gods who let these things happen. If he wanted to be saved as well, he would have had to make a deal with the Great Dragons themselves. But he had himself smuggled into the tower to save his own hide. And now he had stolen the soul of a subordinate of the Great Dragons and was caught red-handed. If he was ejected now, he would be sent to oblivion with no hope of revival. Which Teo understood as he was inside the gem when the god was panicking about what he had done. And could hear Sejun outside talking about it too.
So naturally, Teo had him sign over everything he was worth. Not with a normal contract that would be enforced by the tower. But a SOUL CONTRACT. Even death itself couldn’t stop the contract he was now bound to. Causing him to revert to being a hero and being Teo’s slave that he could summon from his shadow. Which he did to show off his new minion, who did as you just saw in the manhwa.
Thanks to the nice people here at Thunderscans for keeping this series going and for all the fans for reading this. I will be back again tomorrow with the next chapter comparison.
