It is so good to be back with this series. For those that don’t know me. I am a lore nerd who likes to compare this series to the web novel it is based on. The original site I used to comment on died a year back so I have decided to continue my hobby here instead. I hope you enjoy what I have to write. My goal is to compare and not to spoil. So if I do get vague about something, then please know that I am doing my best not to ruin things for people. And in the times that I have to spoil something, then I will use spoiler tags.
With that out of the way; let’s get started. For those that want to read this on their own. This chapter covers the events of chapter 90 in the web novel.
The first big change is the nature of the Quest. Originally, the reason Sejun was sent down was to save the Jewelled Frogs from the RED locusts. Not purple. It was shortly after Sejun was teleported down there that Aileen was informed that the Locusts were evolving to purple. This caused her to panic and contact her grandfather for help. He said basically the same thing here but also added that this was a good thing as the rewards Sejun would get from the quest would be even better now. To be fair, he did believe that Sejun would win no matter what.
The next big change is with the fight itself. Where they were attacked by 50,000 nearly purple locusts. As the Locusts were only 288 more locusts away from reaching the dangerous 7 billion total population required to evolve. With those numbers quickly being made by the newly born locusts emerging from the swamp itself.
Yes. Sejun did have Flame’s protection blessing. But that got used up in a few minutes and failed to last the 3 hours it was meant to. He did try to figure out where the waypoint was so he could always come back in the future. Sadly it was roughly 10km away so he knew the quest would keep him tethered to the swamp. He then did something that we don’t see him do here.
He uses his create thundercloud spell to surround himself and his allies with fog. He was doing this to buy time so he could go into his void storage to get the Detox Green Onions before the evolution happened. But couldn’t as Iona was still inside working. Thankfully, Teo was just as well-prepared in the web novel as he was here and saved Sejun from contact poison as the blood of the locusts in the swamp turned lethal. Iona didn’t even feature in this battle in the web novel. It was all Sejun and his current party.
The next big change is what happened after the battle. Since Iona was working in the void storage. Sejun and company actually focused on the main objective of the quest they were on. Finding and saving the Jewelled Frogs. They had found the last of their caved settlements, which had about 20 Jewelled Frogs left. All thanks to Black Rabbit and his excellent hearing helping them find an injured Jewelled Frog that led them there. After they had given out detox green onions to stabilize the remaining Jewelled Frogs. Did Sejun head out to protect the entrance with his friends only to be attacked by 1.5 BILLION Purple Locusts. It was only then did Iona finish her work and came out.
