Logically the head or high neck area is the most viable point for riding. No restriction from the wings flapping beside him and its the best viewpoint. But the physics with that and the saddle, all I can do is use the excuse of *magic*
If he stuck the saddle anywhere but her head then he probably wouldn’t be able to see and it would be difficult to coordinate attacks with her!
