MC clearly stated that only one path can be chosen due to the body being incapable of handling both, fatally so.
If you mean MC should just carry a sword around coz why not, sure, but we don’t yet know if doing so may inadvertently influence his aura circuits before he’s even gotten a feel for mana.

Why he not choose both side? Mage & Sword = SwordMage w/ 100% Ability in Both Side and Making Him the Only one who can do it. Of course, The King on this both Class. That’s My opinion.
I don’t think you paid attention to the first chapter because, he clearly stated once you choose a path you must stay on it. As a mage if you try to manifest aura you’ll die and as a swordsman if you try to manifest mana you’ll also die.
