Log In to CommentCarnation child lore (sharing the massive lore dump from the novel cz ts is actually sad???):
After the beginning of the apocalypse, lots of children ended up orphans. As they were still mourning their parents during children day (a big thing in korea), they held carnation flowers (real flower or crafted with paper).
Some families pitied them so much they decided to adopt them. They were the first "carnation children". Since then, there was a clear distinction between regular orphans and carnation children. The latter, still holding carnation flowers, are actively promoting themselves so adults can take them in.
At that point, Gio thinks it's pretty cool, but Sungwoon tells him it's closer to employment for shelter.
Gio: damn that's child labor D:
Awfully short...
Ah the foreshadowing.
