Log In to CommentIts seems like it follows the heavenly tribulation logic of "fuck with our plans and the kiddy gloves come off". But considering how well known absorbing one of them is this can't be a guanrteed response right? Or perhaps it's because laying eyes on them instinctively lets you know what asorbing them does when you see them so it's popular despite no one achieving it. it's been repeatedly stated that cultivators feel an excessive greed just by looking at them and is implied to be unnatural especially with the barrier blocking the effect for those inside unlike all those who literally threw themselves into the fire. perception and heavenly will have been tied togther over and over again so there's definitely so big mysteries going on. To finish my rant this perception thing also calls back to when looking into the pit in the mortal realm nearly made him throw himself in out of greed rather than waiting like he planned
