The Descent of the Dragon
[Chapter 155]
Drap drap drap drapㅡ
Kicking up rough sand, a man was riding like a madman.
His face was filled with urgency.
He was none other than Jegal Gil, an investigator of the Martial Alliance.
Where on earth was he hurrying to like this?
Riding on horseback, Jegal Gil prayed over and over again throughout the journey.
‘Please! Please, let nothing have happened!’
But he knew.
He knew just how cruel and savage the Demonic Cultists were.
And he also knew that, even if he hurried there like this, he would not be of much help, considering that he was not particularly skilled in martial arts.
But he could not simply sit around helplessly.
How could he remain still when his benefactor’s entire family was about to be killed?
Drap drap drap drapㅡ
He was now not far from the Hebei Peng Clan.
It was thanks to the fact that he had pushed himself to ride without sleeping at all, going on and on.
He had lost count of how many times he had changed horses along the way.
The Hebei Peng Clan was gradually drawing closer.
And the closer he got, the harder Jegal Gil’s heart pounded.
But then…
KUUUUUUNGㅡ
An unbelievable sight soon entered his eyes, a golden dragon descending from the distant sky and landing upon the earth.
‘What is that?’
It was clearly in the direction of the Hebei Peng Clan, where he was heading.
What on earth had happened there?
A dragon.
It was definitely a dragon. One of dazzling golden light.
That was how it appeared to everyone’s eyes without a doubt.
But everyone also knew that such a thing was impossible.
Then what on earth…?
Soon, through the thick cloud of dust that had risen from the dragon’s descent, a man emerged.
It was a face that anyone belonging to the Hebei Peng Clan knew all too well.
“Hoo.”
It was none other than Yeo Woonhwi, the Hebei Peng Clan’s son-in-law and the leader of the White Wolf Unit.
But how had he come here when he was supposed to be with the Alliance of Evil Ways?
Ignoring the bewildered gazes of the people around him, Yeo Woonhwi slowly turned his head and surveyed his surroundings.
His eyes soon twitched.
The Hebei Peng Clan had been transformed into a battlefield.
He saw the Peng Clan’s martial artists fighting despite being battered and beaten, while the clan’s family members trembled in fear amid the ongoing battle.
And although he did not know what had happened, fortunately, it seemed that the people of the Five Great Families had come to help.
Even Jin Sobaek and those who appeared to be from the Hao Sect were here.
But they, too, were all in terrible condition.
Despite limping from various injuries, they had continued fighting the Demonic Cultists with fire in their eyes.
Everyone had suffered.
Because of the people who had caused this utterly senseless bloodshed.
“Haa.”
Something surged up from deep within Yeo Woonhwi’s chest.
Kkung kkung!!
It was anger. Pure anger.
The terrible emotion that had turned Yeo Woonhwi into the Blood Demon before his regression.
And at the same time—
KUUUUUUUUUNG.
The air around him instantly grew heavy.
So heavy that it became difficult to breathe.
“Urgh!”
The overwhelming aura pouring from Yeo Woonhwi caused the Demonic Cultists to unconsciously step backward.
The problem was that his killing intent was so intense that even the martial artists of the Peng Clan and the Five Great Families found it difficult to withstand.
“Fuuuuh.”
Yeo Woonhwi took a deep breath.
At that, the enormous pressure that had been bearing down on everyone disappeared.
He had sworn.
He had sworn that as long as he did not lose his family, he would never again allow himself to be consumed by anger.
“Are you all right?”
Having calmed himself, Yeo Woonhwi approached the fallen Peng Mugang.
“You…”
Peng Mugang, already battered beyond recognition, stared blankly at Yeo Woonhwi, who had suddenly appeared.
His mind could not comprehend what was happening at all.
“I’ll help you up. Let’s get over there first.”
Yeo Woonhwi supported Peng Mugang as though the Sword Demon, who had been pointing his sword at him, did not even exist.
The Sword Demon, who had stared blankly for a moment, soon came to his senses.
“Y-you bastard! Who gave you permission to take him away?!”
Grinding his teeth, the Sword Demon swung his sword at Yeo Woonhwi.
SHRIIIIIEK!
The Sword Demon’s fierce blade flew toward Yeo Woonhwi, who appeared completely defenseless.
But—
Clack.
Yeo Woonhwi caught the Sword Demon’s sword with his bare hand.
Far too easily.
“W-what?”
‘He caught the sword… with his bare hand?’
‘How?’
It was something he had never experienced before.
What the hell was this man…?
BAAAAAAM!
The Sword Demon’s stunned face suddenly flashed before him.
BHUUGH!
At a speed impossible to follow with the eyes, the Sword Demon’s body was sent flying and slammed into a wall.
The eyes of the other Ten Demons widened to their fullest at the sight.
But Yeo Woonhwi paid them no attention whatsoever. Still supporting Peng Mugang, he leaped briefly through the air and approached the clan’s family members.
“Rest here for a moment.”
“…Y-yes. We will.”
Peng Mugang could not find the words to describe the unfamiliar Yeo Woonhwi before him.
It felt as though the world itself was playing a joke on him.
And then—
“Dad!”
“You…”
“I’ve returned.”
Standing before Yul and Peng Seoyeon, Yeo Woonhwi gave them a faint smile.
His face looked as though he had so much he wanted to say.
He could not help but let out a hollow laugh, because even he had never expected this to happen before he could tell them all the things he had kept to himself until now.
But before that, there was still something he had to do.
“Could you cover Yul’s eyes for a moment?”
“What?”
“It’ll only take a moment. It won’t take long.”
With those words, Yeo Woonhwi turned around.
“Ah. W-wait…”
Peng Seoyeon tried to stop him, but she could not.
Her husband’s back looked so different today.
She, too, could only stare at him blankly, just like Peng Mugang.
No.
The entire Peng Clan’s family had the same expression.
What on earth was happening right now?
Baaaagh!
The Sword Demon, who had been struck by Yeo Woonhwi and sent flying into a wall, rose with murderous eyes and released his power.
The stones around him shattered and flew through the air.
“You baaaaaastard!”
The Sword Demon glared with bloodshot eyes, consumed by extreme rage.
Then he gathered every ounce of strength in his body and leaped into the air.
“I’ll kill you in one strike!”
The Sword Demon unleashed an ultimate technique he had never used until now.
[Darkness-Slaying Demonic Sword]
The most domineering aura among all the techniques he had displayed until now arose and surged toward Yeo Woonhwi.
It was an ultimate technique that placed an enormous strain on his body every time he used it, but he decided not to worry about the consequences anymore.
This was a matter of his pride.
His pride had already been thoroughly crushed, but he could not allow himself to look any more pathetic in front of the others.
He had firmly resolved to eliminate this young man who had appeared out of nowhere.
But—
KWUUUUUNG.
Yeo Woonhwi slowly raised one foot and then slammed it into the ground.
The shockwave that erupted from the impact swallowed up the Sword Demon’s Darkness-Slaying Demonic Sword.
Far too easily.
With a single stomp, the Sword Demon’s ultimate technique had been annihilated.
“W-what is this…?”
The Sword Demon’s eyes shook as though an earthquake had struck.
“So this is all it took to earn the title of Sword Demon?”
Yeo Woonhwi slowly stood face-to-face with the Sword Demon.
Only then did the Sword Demon look directly at Yeo Woonhwi.
The man standing before him possessed an aura completely different from anything he had ever encountered.
“You bastard, just who the hell are yo—”
But—
“Ghk…”
That was as far as the Sword Demon’s consciousness went.
He never saw it.
He never even knew how he died.
The Sword Demon’s utterly futile death left everyone on the battlefield in shock.
“From now on, there is nothing you can do.”
“Except endure what is coming.”
With those words, Yeo Woonhwi raised a finger.
Hundreds of strands of sword qi shot from his fingertip toward the sky before raining down upon the Demonic Cultists scattered throughout the battlefield.
SHWAAAAAA!
The weapons held by the Demonic Cultists shattered completely, their arms and legs broke, and one after another they collapsed onto the ground.
“AAAAAAARGH! M-my aaarm!”
“Gaaaaah! P-please, spare me!”
The hundreds—no, thousands—of Killing Fingers fired by Yeo Woonhwi rendered every Demonic Cultist on the battlefield completely powerless.
[Heavenly Martial Killing Finger]
The martial art Yeo Woonhwi had unleashed was now a supreme-level martial art far beyond the realm of the Extreme Evil Lesser Demon.
In an instant, the balance of the battlefield changed.
The only ones left unharmed were the Ten Demons, the Third Young Master Gwak Wundo, and the monster.
“You bastard!”
The Cold Demon could not simply stand by and watch the situation unfold. He flew toward Yeo Woonhwi, aiming for his back.
Dangerous.
This man… he’s dangerous!
Every part of his body was screaming a warning.
He had to create an opening somehow and eliminate him. That was the only thought occupying his mind.
[Rakshasa Ice Soul Palm!]
The Cold Demon’s attack, filled with a bone-chilling coldness, aimed directly at Yeo Woonhwi’s chest.
‘Got him!’
After fighting countless battles, he knew.
He knew whether his attacks had landed properly or not.
But then—
Swaaaaa.
Yeo Woonhwi’s figure, which seemed almost within reach, vanished like a ghost.
And before long, Yeo Woonhwi appeared behind him.
“W-wait!”
The Cold Demon desperately shouted, trying to survive somehow.
But—
BAAAAAAM!
Just like the Sword Demon, the Cold Demon met his death with a hole blown through his head.
Two of the Ten Demons had met the same fate not long after Yeo Woonhwi appeared.
“Next.”
Yeo Woonhwi spoke calmly, his voice devoid of emotion.
The Demonic Cultists watching him felt chills run through their entire bodies.
Where did a master like that come from…?
Jingle. Jingle.
Gwak Wundo frantically shook the bell.
Then—
“Grrrrrrrr.”
The monster, which had retreated until then, stepped forward.
And then—
“KUUUOOOOOOOO!”
A tremendous beastly roar erupted from its mouth.
KUUUUUUNG.
Perhaps because it had already witnessed Yeo Woonhwi’s power, the monster released every ounce of strength it possessed from the very beginning.
SHAAAAAA.
Indeed, its power was tremendous.
An aura resembling red venomous serpents writhed around its body.
Its savage presence was so overwhelming that those watching were intimidated.
But Yeo Woonhwi merely gave the monster a faint smile.
“A red snake, huh?”
“Interesting. Come.”
Yeo Woonhwi crooked his finger.
Provoked by Yeo Woonhwi, the monster bared its teeth and shot forward like thunder.
Though it had lost its reason, perhaps its desire to prove its superiority in battle remained, because a savage smile appeared at the corners of the monster’s mouth.
[Heavenly Demon Blood Serpent Palm]
In an instant, two enormous red serpents shot out from the monster’s arms.
SHAAAK! SHAAAAAK!
Yeo Woonhwi twisted his body and dodged the two red serpents flying toward him from opposite directions.
But the serpents turned their heads behind him and flew back toward Yeo Woonhwi once more.
At the same time, the monster charged at Yeo Woonhwi, baring its viciously grown fangs as it tried to bite him.
With attacks coming from both the front and back, Yeo Woonhwi appeared trapped with no escape.
But—
“You’re neither human nor beast.”
As he spoke, Yeo Woonhwi raised his knee and drove it straight into the monster’s jaw.
“Graaaaah!”
The monster was struck by the attack and fell backward.
Meanwhile, the two red serpents that had flown right up to Yeo Woonhwi, as though about to devour him, were met by his suddenly flashing eyes.
Tss-tss-tss~.
The two serpents, which had been emitting a fierce red aura, vanished.
By then, a dao was already in Yeo Woonhwi’s hand.
No one had seen it.
No one had seen Yeo Woonhwi draw the dao.
Everyone’s mouths fell open at the heaven-shaking martial prowess Yeo Woonhwi had just displayed.
