[Chapter 147] Sama Ryang’s True Identity
“Ha…”
What on earth was this situation?
Sama Ryang was speechless for a moment, wearing a blank expression.
It was understandable, considering that his hidden identity, which no one else could possibly know, or rather, should know had just spilled from the mouth of a completely unexpected individual.
He had never given any excuse or clue that could expose his identity.
Furthermore, this was the very first time he had ever spoken to this man.
So it was only natural for him to feel utterly confused.
Besides, that gaze. What was with that gaze?
The moment Sama Ryang saw Yeo Woonhwi’s eyes stained with a golden light, his intuition screamed at him.
‘This guy. He is Dangerous,’
He didn’t know why.
There wasn’t any particularly tremendous aura being emitted, yet just looking at him made his entire body feel like it was breaking out in hives and his stomach churn.
He felt like vomiting right then and there.
However, Sama Ryang soon attributed it to being suddenly backed into a corner.
He didn’t know how Yeo Woonhwi had discovered those facts, but he couldn’t simply admit to them in front of so many people.
“I orchestrated all of this? What on earth have you been talking about this whole time? And what is the Dark Calamity? Just what is your intention behind saying such things to me?”
His face hardened as Sama Ryang fired back at Yeo Woonhwi, his displeasure unmistakable.
“So you’re going to play dumb?”
“Listen here. Even if you’re the Alliance Leader’s guest, there’s a limit to how much I can tolerate. Stop this right now.”
“Right. Fine. But why don’t you pull back that black energy creeping out of you before making excuses? I’m also curious to hear how you’ll explain that half-melted human skin mask of yours.”
“What?”
Sama Ryang hurriedly brought a hand to his cheek.
Instead of the smooth skin that should have been there, his fingers felt his real face.
‘When on earth…’
“So that’s your true face.”
Sama Ryang’s half-revealed face was terribly gruesome.
It looked as though his skin had been completely peeled away.
It was a horrific sight, as if his entire face had been ground down.
In order to act as a spy, he had erased his original face and placed a fake one over it.
Because of this, no one had been able to sense anything strange about him even after such a long time.
Every single spy planted in other factions by the Dark Calamity had undergone this exact process.
“Ha.”
Sama Ryang looked around with a flustered expression.
Before he knew it, everyone in the banquet hall was staring at him in shock.
However, what bewildered him most wasn’t that his real face had been exposed.
He could come up with some excuse for his face if he absolutely had to.
The problem was the black energy that had unconsciously begun seeping from his body.
He quickly reined in the energy, but it was already too late.
Even a fool would have known. His energy and the energy of the Demonic Human killed by the Black Martial Emperor’s sword moments ago were far too similar.
Sama Ryang simply couldn’t understand how the situation had come to this.
“How about it? Do you still think you can come up with an excuse to convince everyone?”
Yeo Woonhwi smirked.
At that, Sama Ryang let out a hollow laugh.
‘Checkmate, huh.’
At this point, no excuses would work anymore.
He never imagined his identity would be exposed in such a futile manner.
Even if he somehow managed to smooth over the current situation, he would be suspected for the rest of his life.
In other words, he could no longer fulfill the role he had been assigned.
The near-decade he had spent after killing the original Sama Ryang and infiltrating the Heretic Alliance in his place, all that time he had spent enduring…had vanished into thin air in an instant.
“Ha! Hahahaha!”
Everyone stared in disbelief at Sama Ryang, who had burst into laughter at the sheer absurdity of it all.
Was it really true? Was Sama Ryang actually a traitor?
Who was he?
Was he not the man known as the brains of the Heretic Alliance?
Naturally, everyone in the Heretic Alliance trusted and followed him.
Furthermore, the Black Martial Emperor had placed immense trust in him.
Yet to think that the one responsible for creating the Demonic Humans and causing these horrific massacres was none other than Sama Ryang.
Could there be anything more shocking than this?
It was then.
Rumble.
Someone erupted with immense anger, unleashing a powerful aura.
It was the Ghost-Eyed Demon Lord, Ma Seak.
“Sama Ryang!”
Before anyone could stop him, he drew his sword and charged fiercely at Sama Ryang.
“To think you were the mastermind behind all of this! A spy from some hidden faction! I will never forgive you!”
Despite his rage-filled words, Sama Ryang didn’t reply.
He merely gave him a passing glance.
“Right. First, I’ll sever all your limbs and interrogate you right up until the brink of death!”
The Ghost-Eyed Demon Lord, Ma Seak, was actually a man who took more pride in the Unorthodox faction than anyone else.
To the eyes of others, he might have seemed like an uncontrollable beast, but he valued the order and prestige of the Heretic Alliance above all else.
He was also a man willing to do whatever it took for the sake of the Heretic Alliance.
Because he was such a man, he felt immense anger toward Sama Ryang for deceiving the Heretic Alliance to this extent.
Swiiiish!
As expected of someone who held a seat among the Ten Great Masters, Ma Seak’s fierce Sword Aura surged toward Sama Ryang.
And it was an attack that Sama Ryang, based on the skills everyone knew him to possess, could absolutely never withstand.
“Hmph, pathetic.”
In an instant, Sama Ryang’s energy erupted explosively.
The resulting storm of energy effortlessly dissipated Ma Seak’s Sword Aura.
“Wh-what!”
Ma Seak wore a startled expression.
Before he knew it, an ominous black aura was undulating around Sama Riang’s entire body, wrapping tightly around him.
“Right. I was planning on taking care of you with my own two hands someday, Ma Seak. Dealing with your damn face was always so annoying.”
“You’ve finally shown your true colors! You bastard!”
Grinding his teeth even harder at the sight, Ma Seak charged at Sama Ryang once more.
[Red Sunset Demonic Command Sword (赤霞魔令劍)]
Knowing that clumsy moves wouldn’t work, Ma Seak unleashed his ultimate technique.
However,
“Pathetic.”
Ma Seak’s fiercely flying attack was simply too laughable for Sama Ryang.
It had already been apparent from the first exchange.
Ma Seak was no match for Sama Ryang.
Crack! Bang!
The whip Sama Ryang had pulled out from somewhere obliterated Ma Seak’s ultimate technique in midair.
Following that, his whip coiled around Ma Seak’s neck like lightning.
“Keuk!”
Ma Seak tried to tear the whip from his neck, but it was useless.
Sama Ryang’s eyes curved into crescents.
“To think you’d dare challenge me when you couldn’t even handle a single Demonic Human, keuk keuk.”
“Y-you bastard…”
“Then die.”
It was then.
Whooosh!
A Sword Aura on a completely different level from Ma Seak’s flew toward Sama Ryang’s whip.
Sama Ryang quickly released Ma Seak and retracted his whip.
“So you’re stepping forward yourself.”
“You look different from a Demonic Human.”
At Dokgo Yeong’s words, Sama Ryang smirked.
“Please don’t compare me to a puppet like that. My body is different from a disposable tool.”
Dokgo Yeong stared intently at the confident Sama Ryang before speaking again.
“Why on earth did you betray us? Were you not satisfied with your position? Was what I gave you not enough?”
“Betrayal? Did you say betrayal? Hahahahaha!”
Sama Ryang burst into loud laughter.
At that reaction, Dokgo Yeong’s eyes narrowed.
“What is so funny?”
“Your ignorance and arrogance are what is funny.”
“What?”
“How foolish. It is not betrayal. I have never been a member of the Heretic Alliance, nor have I ever been your man, not even once.”
“Are you saying everything was planned from the very beginning?”
“That’s right. And my final plan was to sever your head and present it to my lord. Although everything has gone awry now.”
“Heo heo.”
Dokgo Yeong let out a hollow laugh.
His face looked incredibly exhausted.
How old was he?
He, too, had suffered countless betrayals to reach his current position.
Even so, being betrayed once again by someone he trusted was something he could never quite get used to.
Yet, he had no desire to become indifferent or numb to betrayal.
Because that would be proof that he was turning into a monster.
He had decided long ago to live without turning away from his emotions—hurting when he was hurt, and rejoicing when he was happy.
However,
“Since things have come to this, I suppose I must clean things up.”
Dokgo Yeong’s eyes sank coldly.
“Truly impressive. You overcome the demons of your heart without showing a hint of it. But even so, you won’t be able to do anything to me.”
At Sama Ryang’s confident words, Dokgo Yeong smiled coldly.
“Why do you think that? Do you think I won’t cut you down? If so, you have severely misjudged me.”
Dokgo Yeong had already made up his mind.
However, Sama Ryang shook his head.
“I’m not saying you won’t cut me down. I’m saying you cannot cut me down. Because…”
Sama Ryang snapped his fingers with a sharp clack.
Tzzzt.
Dokgo Yeong’s face stiffened.
For some reason, he was suddenly unable to use his Internal Energy.
An energy-scattering poison?
No. It was something different from that.
It wasn’t poison. Just what was this…?
Seeing Dokgo Yeong’s shocked face, Sama Ryang shrugged.
“My, my. Did you really think I spent all this time without making any preparations or countermeasures?”
“You bastard…!”
Over a long period of time, Sama Ryang had been injecting the Seed of Ruin into Dokgo Yeong, little by little.
