This is the first time I’ve ever seen a character mostly voice my personal feelings on infatuation that’s confused as “love”. And it’s coming from a teen of all things 😂

A crush is not love, after all, and the romance often shown in media is mere delusional infatuation heightened to a point of, well, as he said, mental illness.
Real love can only come from the gradual understanding of another person’s heart, the true meanings and feelings behind their actions, not just what’s seen at face value or observed from the outside.
“Love at first sight” is infatuation coming from a delusion that their false perception is the actual reality, a deep attachment to the person they imagine, rather than the person they actually are.

Take it from someone who’s been in a healthy, stable relationship for 15 years since mid-teens without a single fight the entire time. Even disagreements don’t last longer than an hour. Not only that, I’m polyamorous and have engaged in multiple consensual relationships while married to said person, and have seen the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful in terms of relationships and intimate personality traits.
Humans are difficult. Relationships triply so. But understanding yourself is even harder.
Think carefully about how you perceive the world and how you act upon it.
