I can understand not getting the meaning of the words easily, or the formula.
But how is repeating something verbatim that difficult? And listening to the translation of the words also seemed relatively simple?
I assume this is shown from the POV of the MC since it's so simple, so I wonder how it was perceived by everyone else to make them that confused and bewildered?
Perhaps the words in the ancient tongue are difficult to pronounce without mana?
Or the meaning of the words have some sort of magical resonance that is nearly impossible for others to understand by merely being said out loud?

It's probably because you have to move your mana while chanting the words, saying the words shouldn't just magically summon a fireball, instead chanting the words with mana like how he's been reading books with mana (by infusing mana into his voice) should in theory create a fireball.
The difference between the mc and the rest of his class is how they infuse their mana, I'm sure if it was more clearly explained to the dude he could have made a fireball (or what ever they were trying to make), but without clear instructions he was left in the dark on what to really do.
