Log In to CommentI don't know why he concluded Ma Teng was his least conspicuous puppet when a bunch of people instantly recognized him and had beef.
Ma Teng was a fugly bastard with rancid vibes even before he got turned into a shambling corpse golem, and based on a few chapters ago, he's now so unsettling that people actively cross the street to avoid him.
By comparison, his other puppets are pretty ordinary-looking - which means that they get approached by random people trying to sell them things and the like. People interact with those puppets more, and our snake protagonist interprets that as people paying more attention to them.
TL;DR - Xu is misinterpreting 'people do not want to interact with Ma Teng if they can help it' as 'Ma Teng is inconspicuous'.
