he was literally told ages ago that his mom was a dragon??
I was wondering why he was confused by being called a half breed, but figured i was simply missing something about what a half breed was.

No, the dragon didn’t have time to tell him everything. MC only knows his mother had a strong connection to it. Wood experienced the dragon’s memory, but that was just to give the reader a flashback, and he immediately forgot it before he could tell MC.
