There will be nothing to investigate. It's because the dude said it was murder doesn't mean its murder. The logical thing the detective would say is how did you know they were already dead from outside of the building? How can u hear from outside where it's noisy from outside and you didn't even look though the window? You know your were recorded? Not once you stop and checked. Also there's no proof since the scene was destroyed. Only thing we can do is find out if it was arson or electrical fire. But no way to prove who did it regardless who were in the alley. There were no witnesses to prove your point. Now you want to investigate these three people, you want us to investigate everybody that was outside the building. We can say you done it and want to blame someone else.
Don't think too much when reading these. Brain pain for nothing. Just enjoy.
If they were fully on duty, yeah probably. But the dude was pulled in off his vacation just for this investigation, and he had to investigate properly due to the death.
They can't pin it on the MC either, because there's no actual proof of that (and would require further investigation).
Instead, they just took it as a lead, regardless of how suspicious it was, and chased those down, and ended up finding proof.
If they didn't find anything from those sketches, yeah, he'd be suspect #1.
And while it was suspicious that he was pointing this out, his identity is scrubbed clean, so there's nothing tying him to the fire other than him just being there.
